Indoor League 2012—Begins January 7, 2012

To check out previous years: Indoor 2011; Indoor 2010; Indoor 2009; Indoor 2008

Overview:

Winter may be upon us, but that’s no reason to despair because the Chicago Field Hockey Club will simply head inside for our all exciting Indoor League!

Format: Similar to past seasons, we will organize a competitive league with set teams and play 5v5 games (4 field players and 1 goalie). All indoor field hockey rules apply and we will have refs to enforce them!

Cost: League fee is $100 for all players and goalies; substitutes are charged $15 per session.

Registration: 2012 Indoor League is now full. If you would like to sign up as a substitute, please still fill out the registration form available in the "Documents" tab of our Teamer team page. E-mail your completed form to the Indoor Chair at indoor-chair@chicagofhc.com. If you are not registered in Teamer, please e-mail ladies-captain@chicagofhc.com or mens-captain@chicagofhc.com.

Please note that due to the competitive nature of the league, it is important for all players to have a familiarity with indoor field hockey and its rules. If you have never played indoor before or are uncomfortable with your skill level, you should consider signing up as a substitute. The league is games only—we will not have any practice sessions to teach rules or skills. If you have any questions about the league or the skill level, please email the Indoor Chair. The Indoor Chair reserves the right to determine if a player’s skill level is appropriate for this league.
Schedule:

Day: Every Saturday from January 7–March 10, 2012*
*There will be no session the weekend of the Cinci Indoor Tournament (February 11-12, 2012)

Time: 2:30–5:00 p.m.

*Player Ratings: Offense wins games, defense wins championships, but bar attendance wins glory of amazing and unending proportions! Scoring goals, or not conceding goals for our goalies, helps out an individual team; however the club more greatly benefits from the camaraderie built at the post-game festivities! So during this season, we'll be tracking each individual's performance both on and off the court. Welcome to player ratings!

Points will be awarded and deducted over the course of the season. Players earn points for good play and even better social participation; however, players will also be assessed points for annoying tendencies. Each player started the season at zero and points are awarded/deducted for the following (point system can change, without prior notice, over the course of the season at the Indoor Chair's discretion):
Awards:
+1/2 point is awarded for goals scored
+1 point is awarded for attending a session
+1 point is awarded for each shutout a goalie records
+1 point is awarded for bringing a fan to a session (and an additional 1/2 point is awarded if the fan attends The Village Tap's post-game hydration conference)
+2 point are awarded for arriving early and nearly single-handedly setting up the boards (you rock, Enrique!)
+2 points are awarded for bringing homemade tasty treats
+2 points are awarded for bringing a hot, single person to The Village Tap's post-game hydration conference
+2 points are awarded for entertaining reactions to scoring goals (e.g., Allie's shock and awe)
+5 points are awarded for attending The Village Tap's post-game hydration conference
+2 bonus points are awarded for staying until the bitter end of The Village Tap's post-game hydration conference
+4 points are awarded to a sub/fan who is not needed to play on a given day, but still attends The Village Tap's post-game hydration conference (and they get an additional +2 bonus points for staying until the bitter end)
Deductions:
-1 point is assessed for late arrivals
-1 point is assessed for leaving early
-1 point is assessed for not wearing your team shirt
-2 points are assessed for missing a session
-2 points are assessed for bratty backtalk to a ref (regardless if you're right or not!)
-3 additional points are assessed for multiple instances of bratty backtalk to a ref in a session
-3 point are assessed for questioning the Indoor Chair's decisions, be it re subs, Player Rating point system, or anything else the Indoor Chair finds obnoxious (this is not a democracy!!)
-3 point are assessed for shamefully attempting to blackmail the Indoor Chair (the Indoor Chair will not be cowed by such dreadful and ghastly behavior!!)
-3 points are assessed for skipping The Village Tap's post-game hydration conference
-5 points are assessed for missing a session without (at the very least!) 24-hours prior notice to the Indoor Chair
-100 points are assessed for you know what because you know why (and, really, you asked for it!)

**Cinci attendees were awarded/deducted additional points for various reasons

Special Thanks to our sponsor bar, The Village Tap, located at 2055 West Roscoe Street. They provided the T-shirts for the league and are offering us a 20% discount on the bill for those participating in the weekly, post-game hydration conferences (same place as last year's End of Indoor Party).

Questions?? Email Indoor Chair.
