Hockey Bio: Joniell
began his hockey career in high school (St Andrews High
School and Junior college, Bombay); at the same time he
was playing for one of the local clubs at the Bombay 3rd
division level. During his college years he represented
St. Xavier's college, Bombay, India for 5 years during
which he captained the college team for 2 years. He was
also a stand in coach for his college team during the
last two years. During this time he also continued playing
club hockey at first and senior division levels for different
clubs at the Bombay Hockey Association (BHA). There was
a hiatus in his hockey career for about 7 years after
which he started playing for the CFCH hockey team. He
also coaches high schools and helps with the high
school field hockey refereeing in the Chicago area when
time permits.
CFHC Experience:
Its a great club to play in at any
skill level. I like the diversity and the personalitis
of the people in the club. The thing that has helped me
the most is how I have modified my game to incorporate
different hockey styles into it. The tournaments are great,
playing competitive hockey brings back nostalgic memories
with not so nice body aches and pains in the following
days. No matter how good you are, being in a club with
people who have played in all continents and levels, as
ours is, there is always something you can learn. If not
hockey tips -you develop a wonderful vocabulary of swear
words in different languages (all part of the game).
