NARRATIVE

Team Philly enjoyed another great weekend in Virginia Beach, VA! I had such a great time with everyone and was so very proud of the way the team played. The competition was tough - with the NY Islanders, Shark Bait and Mavericks in our division, and Malvern, Atlanta, USA (U-21 national team) and Ohio State in the other division. We came out very strong against the Islanders - who kicked our ass last year - but lost on a last minute fluke goal 0-1. Our second game was against Shark Bait who basically humiliated us last year in a "for fun" match. This year, we held them 0-0 - every other team who played them lost to them except for Ohio State, who beat them 2-0. Then, we stumbled against our rivals the Mavericks, 0-2. We also lost ME who suffered a shattered pinkie and 6 stitches (sooooo gross) shortly into the first half. (The f#$k heard round the world - I yelled soooooooo loudly.) Sunday morning we beat Malvern 1-0 and then dominated (really - from the sideline our team looked great!!!) Atlanta in the consolation final, but we couldn't catch a break and tied them 0-0. Utlimately, we lost in strokes (it took all 10) by one goal.

No head hanging here - we got lots of compliments on our improved level of play from other teams, officials and coaches. Well done, ladies! And boy did we have fun!!!!

A big thank you to our friends from Chicago - Theresa and Jeanne - who really stepped up and played awesome. You guys can move to Philly any time - we'd love to have you! We missed Ana on our team, but I want to shout out a special thank you to her for accompanying me to the ER and hanging out with me. We love our Chicago friends!
