Weekday Training:
. . . . . Tuesday morning (July 4) starting
at 10 am at Northwestern University, so if
we'll hopefully bypass your holiday BBQ plans. Because of
the holiday, this is a little less formal and more of a hit-around
-- Shahid and Shayan will definitely be there, so join them
if you can!

Weekend Practice:
. . . . . Will be held at Concordia on Saturday (July
8) from 4-6pm this week - unfortunately the turf
at Northwestern is completely booked for the weekend before
our tournment. Even though the field at Concordia is different,
it's important we try to get out there to prepare ourselves
for Chicago Cup. Remember, Moe's
having a party afterwards!

MSU tournament:
. . . . . Great job to the team
who traveled to MSU this weekend for the Spartan Summer
Classic. We were undefeated through Saturday's round robin
games, and found ourselves in the championship match against
the Mavericks on Sunday afternoon. We lost the game 2-1, causing
us to finish second place in the tournament. Although the
happenings in that final game are controversial at best, the
CFHC team played superbly throughout the tournament and showed
a lot of competitive spirit and class on and off the field
- we have a lot to be proud of! The full story is coming soon,
thanks to our reporting duo of Tina and Betsy.

Chicago Cup:
. . . . . It's less than two weeks away! There
are many things you can do to make our tournament a success
this year. Please
go here to view the tasks where help is still needed and
to sign up. We'll be sending out further updates this week,
so keep an eye out. Also, this
letter can be printed and given to anyone that you think
might be interested in an ad or 'shout out' in the brochure.
. . . . . Teams
are
now posted. We are happy to be putting forward two great
Chicago teams!! The board met at the beginning of the year
and decided to make some tournaments "social" (e.g.
MSU) where we take players on a first come first serve basis,
and others as "competitive" where we set our sights
on winning and pick the strongest available squad. We have
agreed to make Chicago Cup our first "competitive"
tournament of the year. Simon Allen will be captaining the
Chicago A and Nadeem Khan will be captaining the Chicago B.
. . . . . Tournament fees must be given
to Shayan or Theresa before July 8 (either at practice, MSU,
or via mail to Shayan's address). The cost is $35 and includes
food at the social.

World Cup Final Game:
. . . . . We have the cure for Moe’s post party hangover!
Join the rest of your teammates in Nevins for the World Cup
final. We are all planning to get together to enjoy the biggest
sporting event on the planet, it only happens once every four
years. The game kicks off at 1 pm, so we are going to start
gathering in Nevins around 12 pm to enjoy
the build up and then the game itself. Pick your team and
bring your colors!!

Team Uniforms:
. . . . . Have arrived!!! We must get the shield printed
on the front before you'll receive them, so we'll keep you
posted. You must pay before you can get your order. If you
didn't order, there are extra shirts (email me with your size,
and realize that all the numbers are pre-printed at this stage),
but we only ordered bottoms for those who requested them.
If you would still like to get a bottom to go with the uniform,
please take care of ordering your own at Field Hockey World.
The women's
skort is the TK Pisa in Navy, and the men's
shorts are the TK San Remo in Navy (you will need to scroll
on each page to see them). Please enter something about Chicago
FHC in the delivery options section of the order form, so
they know what orders are coming from us. There is no immediate
discount, but it will give us more leverage in the future
with them if they know when our team members are making purchases.
