Weekday Training:

. . . . . Tuesday night (September 25) starting at 7 pm at Northwestern. We had 14 players this week including two goalies, thanks to all who came out.

Weekend Practice:

. . . . . Saturday 9/22 at 2pm-4pm at NU, all welcome especially the new folks who came to the mixer last week :)

CFHC Six-on-Six-Mixer:

. . . . . Thanks to all who showed up last Sunday, we had a really fun afternoon with 43 participants and some really good hockey being played.
Hats off to those guys who were fasting and still managed to play with great energy and enthusiasm!
It was also great to see such a strong turnout in Nevins afterwards. To those who were joining us for the first time, thanks for helping to make the day a success and we look forward to playing with you again!!

Sunday Morning Hockey

. . . . . For those who just can't get enough hockey, Faizel and Nadeem have started organizing scrimmages in Oak Park on Sunday mornings. These two guys have been stalwarts of field hockey in Chicago for the past decade so if you fancy a Sunday morning session in the Oak Park area, please contact Faizal Jogee (fijogee@yahoo.com) for more information

End of Season Festivities

. . . . . Those of you who have been playing with us for a while know that at the end of each season we have a final scrimmage at NU, followed by our Annual General Meeting where all members in good standing get to vote on officers for the following year as well as various awards for the current season. It also involves an end of season and on occasion a drink or two is had also ;)
It's time to start organizing the venue and agenda for the evening and with Joniell getting set to defend his PhD and trying to get back to India to visit family, he requested that others who may have more time on their hands help in the organizing of the event.
Betsy and Gaby have already volunteered to get involved, if anyone else would like to help out, please let me know and we can share the load. Thanks!!

Allie's BackYard Olympics

. . . . . After practice on Saturday, head just 20 minute south to continue the fun at Allie's Backyard Olympics and Barbecue. Winnemac Park and Allie's Place 2244 W. Carmen, 1st Floor, Chicago, IL 60625.
We're going to play kickball, ultimate frisbee, badminton, and anything else you want! Foreign-born players who are new to kickball are MOST welcome - it'll be a blast!
To get from the practice pitch to Allie's house - Go South on Sheridan Rd to Lakeshore Drive, take Lakeshore just an exit or so to Foster Avenue, then head West on Foster, left on Oakley, left on Carmen. If you're more familiar with the roads in Evanston take Sheridan south, merge onto Chicago Ave at the south end of campus, turn right on Main, Left on Asbury, which turns into Western, then go all the way to Foster, turn Left on Foster, right on Oakley, left on Carmen. Got it? Excellent

A Note from Justine

. . . . . Hi All!
Plans are in the works for my West Park Academy field hockey club!!
We will mainly scrimmage internally and I have opened the club up to both boys and girls. I am scared to let 13 year boys run around with weapon-like sticks... but a few expressed interest and I feel compelled to teach them if they want to play!
I NEED YOUR HELP!!
On Friday, October 19 the NU Women play at 3PM vs. Ohio State. My plan is to reward good sportsmanship and dedicated members of my club with a field trip up to Evanston. We will leave school early and bus up to watch the NU Game. I need MEN & WOMEN (we don't want to traumatize the boys into thinking they play a girls only sport) to help run a clinic on the turf after the game. The more of you who show up the better. It would only be an 1 hour (approx 4:30-5:30) and then those of you who show up can scrimmage all out once the kids are gone. A great chance to cheer on NU AND do a good deed. I know it is difficult to get there so early on a work day... but I really want to make this special for the kids. It is 1 month away...can you plan for it? Please let me know if you can manipulate your schedule to make it to the turf that day. It will be sooooo fun!!! These kids are awesome and not your typical field hockey crowd ;-) Please email me at ms.schramke@yahoo.com if you can help out Oct. 19 at Approx. 4PM. Post on the forum as well to see can make it. The more the MERRIER!!!!
Thanks guys--- I love you!!!

Atlanta Tourney News

. . . . . So every avenue was exhausted and sadly we will not be sending a Men's squad to the Atlanta Cup this October to defend our title. This is genuinely upsetting to all involved but we just have an amazing number of guys who wanted to go but just couldn't because of travel, injury, other commitments etc.... All we can say is we'll be back next year and will make it a priority to get a squad assembled and confirmed early.
What it does mean is that we should all rally behind a great Ladies squad that is travelling down to defend their title and keep the Chicago FHC flag flying. We know you ladies are going to do us proud!
