Weekly Updates... week of 29 September 08

topics this week... congratulations Derek! | weekend scrimmage | condolences | park district coach needed | end of season save the date

congratulations Derek!... Our own Derek Miros has been named to the US National Indoor Squad and has been asked to travel with the squad to Hanover, Germany for a training tour in November. Major congratulations to Derek!!! I'm sure you'll all agree that Derek is a very worthy recipient of this honor, as well as being a very gifted player he has worked very hard on his game in the past two years and its great to see him getting recognition for that work. Its also great to know that Chicago based players can get recognized on the National stage and hopefully this will be the first of many such honors for the club in years to come. Well done Derek, we are all very proud of your selection!! More info here: http://www.usfieldhockey.com/teams/indoor/men_indoor.htm

weekend scrimmage... Given that NU ladies are on the road again next weekend, we are hopeful to have the field at our usual Saturday lunchtime slot. You'll get a note later this week to confirm details, and the calendar will also be updated. Steve and Mags strongly suggest that players going to Atlanta make a special effort to attend.

condolences... Please keep Faizal Jogee in your thoughts, as his father has recently passed away and was laid to rest in Blackburn, England. Our deepest condolences to Faizal and his family.

park district coach needed... This information was recently received by Mags. Please direct questions to Deedee. "The Winnetka Travel Team consisting of girls 6-8th grades needs a coach (paid position through Winnetka Park District) ASAP, as ours just resigned. The season is through October. If you know of anyone who can step in and coach please let me know. Contact: Deedee Shields 847-922-2370."

end of season save the date... The winner for the end of season date in our poll last week was November 15. Thanks to all who took the time to vote -- more details will be announced soon.
