We are hopeful to have an arrangement sorted out soon, but the NU ladies play at 1 pm this Saturday (come cheer if you can!), so we'll have to arrange practice around that - stay tuned for more info as we get it. 2009 board elections... Are you interested in being on the board next year? Do you know someone who would be a fantastic candidate? We will begin the process of 2009 elections starting this week. First, please take time to review the roles and responsibilities of each of the positions before determining your nominations: go to the about us page for descriptions (scroll towards the bottom of the page). Nominees must be members in good standing. Please consider that it takes the minimum of a solid 5 hours per month to participate on the board. Next, email Mags (ladies-captain@chicagofhc.com) your nominations NO LATER THAN November 3rd at 5 pm. If you have been nominated, you will be contacted by Mags to accept your nomination for a single position, with the opportunity to write a statement about why you would like to be on the board. The candidates and their statements if they chose to write them will be published in the November 10 weekly updates. Members in good standing will vote at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 15 by written ballot. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please arrange to proxy vote with Mags via email, phone, or written ballot. All nominations and votes will be kept confidential. end of season... Game will be on November 15, time TBA. SOCIAL will be held again this year at Goose Island's Clyborn St Location. The AGM will begin at 7:30 pm promptly - please plan to arrive ON TIME. Members in good standing will have their dinner paid for as part of their membership benefits. You may bring along a guest for $36/person. Drink specials will be offered between 8 pm and 11 pm (beer, wine, call drinks), for a cost of $36/person - if you are drinking, you must pay this. Please RSVP to Betsy (social-chair@chicagofhc.com) if you plan to attend, and if you would like the drinks package and/or to bring a guest along. calendar orders... Once again this year, Gaby is heading up efforts for a CFHC calendar. No office/home is complete without one - they are a great way to remember the good CFHC times throughout the year. This year, we are taking pre-orders for the calendar, and will work very hard to have them ready for distribution at the AGM. We will provide exact costs later (it will be based on the number of calendars ordered), but they will be approximately $20. Please email T (indoor-chair@chicagofhc.com) if you are interested in purchasing one (or more). Orders are due by November 7.Phoenix Tournament... We've been invited to attend: 5th Annual Phoenix Cactus Classic Field Hockey Tournament (January 17-18, 2009) - please see the Invitation pdf. If you are interested in attending, please email Theresa (indoor-chair@chicagofhc.com). Include in that email if you would like to play for a mens, womens, or ceod division. The captains will determine based on response if there is enough interest to send a team. This is a great excuse to get out of the cold of Chicago - if you're on a strict hockey budget for the year, just remember to take into consideration other tournaments during the year. wildcats thank you...
